People read these pages at difficult moments, often late at night. The site is built so that reading leaves no trail with us: nothing to sign up for, nothing stored on your device.

A quiet site by design

There is no login, no comment box, no contact form and no newsletter. The site cannot learn your name or address because it never asks for them.

All fonts, images and scripts are loaded from this domain only, and the site instructs browsers to block anything else. No social network, advertiser or analytics company is told that you opened a page here.

Counting visits

The page counter

How it works

We count page views with Umami, open-source software running on a server we manage and reached through this domain. It does not use cookies or any identifier stored in your browser.

What one visit adds

A page address and a time. The site that referred you, if your browser shares it. A country, a browser family and whether the screen is a phone or a computer. If you click a partner link, that click and the page it was on.

What stays unknown

Who you are, whether you have visited before, and which page you read after which. The totals cannot be traced back to a person.

Infrastructure

Servers

The site is hosted on rented servers in the European Union and delivered through Cloudflare, which also keeps abusive traffic away.

Both have to process the internet address of each request in order to answer it, and both keep routine technical logs for a limited period. We do not link those logs to the visit counts and do not use them to identify readers. Cloudflare's handling of its logs is described in its own privacy policy.

Outbound partner links

A few passages about dating again link to a dating service run by another company. If you register there, we may be paid.

The link tells that company's network which site and which page sent you. It says nothing about you. From the moment you arrive on their site, their terms, their cookies and their privacy policy apply, and what you enter there goes to them. The about page explains where these links are placed and where they are kept out.

We hold no personal record of any reader, so there is nothing for us to hand over, correct or delete.

Changes

If the site ever begins to collect anything more, this page will change before that happens and its modified date will show when.
